The American Chamber of Commerce in Japan (ACCJ) Kansai Chapter announced that it will hold its second ACCJ Kansai Charity Walk-a-thon — Charity Walk & Festival, at Osaka Jo Koen (Osaka Castle Park) on October 20. The event is aiming once again this year to improve the environment for working women in Japan. The proceeds from the event shall be donated to non-profit organizations that focus on improving the environment for working women in Japan*.The ACCJ Kansai Chapter formed the Community Service Committee last year to take the role of carrying out its CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives, one of the primary pillars of the ACCJ’s activities, and held its first charity walk-a-thon in Kobe. The event was a big success with more than 800 participants and over 6.8 million yen raised in total, which was donated to the Family Support Centers of the cities of Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe, Suita, Toyonaka and Sakai, Sannoh Children Center (Sannoh Kodomo Center), Women’s Net Kobe, Gender Equality Net Amagasaki (Danjyo Kyodo Sangaku Net Amagasaki) *.This year the ACCJ Kansai Chapter Executive Committee will select eligible organizations that have been carrying out activities for more than one year or are planning to start activities in the Kansai area, and are able to use donated funds for “improving the environment for working women in Japan”, such as activities to support working mothers and their children in the Kansai area based on a careful evaluation of the application form and required documents received.With Japan facing an aging society on the forefront and questions about who will fill the gaping hole in labor workforce when the baby boomers retire, the ACCJ Kansai Chapter regards the younger generation of Japanese females more and more as major contributors to the continued growth of the country’s economy. The ACCJ Kansai Chapter continues to support a society where there is an increase in the number of women working in the workforce and a society that allows women to demonstrate their ability and skills for the greater good of Japan.*Less the event operating expenses

The second ACCJ Kansai Walk-a-thon is scheduled to be held as follows:

About the ACCJ:The American Chamber of Commerce in Japan (ACCJ) was established in 1948 by representatives of 40 American companies and has grown into one of the most influential business organizations in Japan. 在日米国商工会議所（以下、ACCJ）関西支部では、日本における企業の社会的貢献（CSR）への意識の高まりに応え、第2回目となりますACCJ関西ウォーカソン ~ チャリティーウォーク&フェスティバル ~ を開催いたします。在日米国商工会議所（以下、ACCJ）関西支部は、チャリティーウォーク「ACCJ関西ウォーカソン」を、10月20日に大阪城公園にて開催すると発表いたしました。第二回となる今年も「働く女性のための環境 改善」というテーマで開催し、収益金*を「働く女性の環境改善」に役立つ、非営利団体の活動に寄付す る予定です。ACCJ関西支部では、昨年、ACCJの活動の二本柱の一つである、企業の社会的責任（CSR）を推進する ためコミュニティ・サービス委員会（地域社会奉仕委員会）を設立しました。その活動の一貫として神 戸で開催した第一回チャリティーウォークには約800名が参加し、680万円以上の収益金*は、大阪市、京都市、神戸市、吹田市、豊中市および堺市のファミリーサポートセンター、山王こどもセンター、ウィメンズネット・こうべ、男女共同参画ネット尼崎、の計9団体へ寄付されました。なお、本年の寄付先の選定は、1）関西地区で一年以上の活動実績がある、もしくはこれから活動を始 めようとしている非営利組織、2）受け取った寄付金を関西地区において「働く女性のための環境改 善」のための活動に役立てることができる組織（働く女性とその子供をサポートする活動など）、の基 準に基づき、所定の申し込みを受け付けた団体のなかから、ACCJ関西支部が審査のうえ決定いたします。ACCJ関西支部は、少子高齢化、そして団塊世代のリタイアでの新たな労働力の確保という問題へ対応策 のひとつとして、日本社会で持続可能な経済成長を実現していくため、女性の社会参画率を増やすこと が有効かつ重要な施策であると考えています。今後も、女性が自らの力を十分に発揮出来る職場と社会 環境づくりへの支援の重要性をさらに広く訴えていく所存です。* 協賛金・寄付金合計よりイベント運営費を差し引いた額

在日米国商工会議所について
